Call for Presentations

FSMB’s 2025 Call for Presentation Abstracts

Submission Deadline Extended to Tuesday, Oct. 1

Are you a state medical board representative or a medical regulatory authority with a project to share?  A state medical board doing great things that others can learn from?  If so, we want to hear from you. This is your chance to share effective models, policies, research and strategies and to provide your colleagues with insights and best practices for addressing many of the issues facing regulators today.

The FSMB invites state medical board members and staff, as well as international medical regulatory authorities, to submit an abstract for presentation at the 2025 Annual Meeting, to be held, April 24-26, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Seattle in Seattle, WA.  Over the course of the three days, the FSMB will welcome attendees from across the state medical board and regulatory communities, where we will encourage opportunities to engage and connect with colleagues.

Examples of topics and themes from submitted abstracts selected for the 2024 Annual Meeting include:

  • Working Prescribing Cases Backwards
  • Promoting an Interdisciplinary Team-based Approach to Medical Regulation
  • Improving Collaboration & Efficiencies in Our State Medical Board
  • Should Medical Regulation be Kinder?

Submit your proposal today.

Session Formats

Submit a proposal that showcases how you have taken your state medical board to the next level of innovation, efficiency and effectiveness in public protection. Abstracts will be accepted for 60- to 90-minute concurrent sessions, and plenary sessions.  Both types of presentations are designed to offer innovative topics relevant to medical regulation and the role of state medical boards.  Preference is given to novel topics that are supported by strong needs assessment and learning formats that provide an engaging learning experience for attendees.  It is important that topics have strong regulatory application, originality and meet the learning needs of regulatory authorities.

Sessions may be recorded for on-demand viewing on FSMB’s Virtual Education Hub after the meeting.

FSMB Policies

Full Disclosure Policy For Continuing Medical Education

As a provider approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), presenters will be asked to identify any potential conflict of interest related to the content to be offered (e.g. commercial interest, affiliation with a vendor, and/or receipt of royalties) and affirm that their presentations will not be used to sell a particular product or service.

To mitigate any necessary relationships, all confirmed speakers will be required to complete a Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form on the following question soon after proposal approval.

Have you had any financial relationship(s) with an ineligible company in the past 24 months? If so, please provide us with the name(s) and nature of the relationship(s). (Examples of financial relationships include employee, researcher, consultant, advisor, speaker, independent contractor (including contracted research), royalties or patent beneficiary, executive role, and ownership interest. Individual stocks and stock options should be disclosed; diversified mutual funds do not need to be disclosed. Research funding from ineligible companies should be disclosed by the principal or named investigator even if that individual’s institution receives the research grant and manages the funds.)

The intent of this policy is not to prevent a speaker with a potential conflict of interest from making a presentation, but to ensure that any potential conflicts are identified openly so that attendees may form their own judgments regarding possible bias. In keeping with this policy, CME faculty relationships shall be disclosed to participants prior to educational activities in meeting promotional materials, handouts, and post-meeting publications. Additionally, FSMB exerts the right to rescind the acceptance of an abstract due to any conflict of interest discovered after the fact.

Speaker Registration Discount & Reimbursement

By submitting a proposal for consideration, you agree to the following speaker registration discount and reimbursement policy:

  • To register for the Annual Meeting using FSMB’s event registration system. All presenters and co-presenters receive complimentary registration.
  • FSMB will reimburse travel and hotel expenses for 1-2 nights (e.g., airfare, ground transportation, hotel room and tax charges, and incidentals, such as meals/snacks incurred during travel). All receipts must be provided for reimbursement.
