SPEX & PLAS
The SPEX ® is a computerized, multiple-choice examination of current knowledge requisite for the general, undifferentiated practice of medicine. State boards may require SPEX for endorsement of licensure, reinstatement of a license, or reactivation of a license after a period of inactivity.
The Post-Licensure Assessment System (PLAS) is a joint program of the Federation of State Medical Boards and the National Board of Medical Examiners and provides objective and personalized tools for assessment of physicians’ clinical competence.
WHAT IS SPEX?
SPEX is used to re-examine a physician's ongoing level of basic medical knowledge. It is available to currently or previously licensed physicians.
